Anios at the UMCG,
Recruitment film
The Surgery department at the UMCG is always on the lookout for new anios doctors. Because working as an anios in Surgery is demanding, it is by nature not the most popular anios position. To appeal to potential anios doctors, we created a recruitment film.

Recruitment film
The aim of the recruitment film was to enthuse suitable anios doctors. We therefore decided to present the Surgery department and its work as tough, diverse, and unique — elements that emerged during the tour and the creative session.
To bring these elements across effectively, we chose to strike a good balance between the softer and harder aspects of the role.

Mix of hard and soft aspects
The harder aspects included work in the trauma room, the plaster clinic, and the children's ward. The more unique softer aspects included teaching, the laparoscopic practice box, the research lab, and not forgetting the 'croquette moment' shared with all colleagues.
The highlight of the film is of course the kidney transplant. Here we captured the UMCG's surgeons, aios doctors, and anios doctors in action during an actual operation.

Collaboration
To portray the day-to-day work of an anios doctor accurately, close collaboration with the Surgery department was essential. During the creative session, we drew up a list of tasks and activities that simply had to feature in the film.
In a single filming day, we captured a wealth of shots, thanks to the mutual trust between all parties. The final film fills us with pride. More importantly, it brought in a significant number of applications!
