What is the difference between VR en AR ?
The difference between Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality lies in the way they influence the reality around us.
Virtual Reality creates a fully virtual world that replaces the real environment. You find yourself completely immersed in a simulated reality, as though you're inside a film or game. You experience this with the help of a VR headset and controllers, which track your movements and interactions. With a VR headset on, you can no longer see anything of your own surroundings.
Augmented Reality aaugments your environment by adding digital elements to a live image. Think, for example, of Snapchat lenses or the game Pokémon Go. You can still see the real world, but with additional virtual details overlaid. This is often done via the camera of your smartphone or tablet.
VR and AR techniques used together are called Extended Reality or XR.
