Their unique products, made from the authentic material washi (from the Japanese wa (Japanese) and shi (paper)), offer a premium aesthetic. Wood & Washi transforms this, using their artisanal techniques, into stunning roller blinds and related products.
The situation
Wood & Washi underwent a transition in their marketing approach. Investment was made in realising the company's international ambitions. With a dealer network spread across various locations, dealers are responsible for the correct installation of the products. However, Wood & Washi noticed that installation does not always go without a hitch. Wood & Washi therefore brought in Phil & Flo to produce a series of animations offering crystal-clear explanations of how to install the products, in a style befitting this premium product.
Our solution
For Wood & Washi, we have developed a series of now 7 instructional animations. Using the right camera movements, we created 3D animations with a professional, premium look and feel, yet with a light and airy character. These animations are combined with eye-catching graphics, all in a unique style that perfectly matches Wood & Washi's wishes and leaves the competition in the dust.
The result
The setting for the instructional films is based on the (at the time, forthcoming) showroom. This stunning virtual space is clean, uncluttered, and exudes a natural quality in Japanese style. Taking a photorealistic approach for instructional purposes, we created photoscans of all the components that were difficult to animate, such as hanging systems and profiles, whilst creating 3D models of the simpler, larger components such as brackets. The result is a breathtaking whole that gives Wood & Washi's installers the best possible support in their work.
